L’attesa per l’Apple Special Event – 06/09/14

Ancora qualche ora e inizierà il classico evento annuale di presentazione del nuovo iPhone.

Curiosità per questo nuovo iPhone che per la prima volta (secondo i rumors) arriverà in versione con schermo ingrandito (4.7″) e gigante (5.5″, troppo per i miei gusti).

Why introduce a second size class, at the relatively enormous (for a phone) 5.5 inches? Two reasons, very clear to me:

1. Some people want to buy them. It doesn’t matter why. For some it might be games. For others, being able to carry one device as a hybrid phone/tablet. For others, it might about reading — making the iPhone more usable as an e-book reader. It doesn’t matter what the reasons are. The simple fact is that many people want huge phones — not just bigger ones, but huge ones — and they’re willing to pay a premium for them. Apple has played a one-size-fits-all game for seven iPhone generations. The market shows that one size does not fit all. I don’t know that they should have done it sooner, but it certainly feels like the time for multiple iPhone sizes has come.
2. Battery life. Giant-sized phones have room for giant-sized batteries.

Prelude to Tomorrow’s Big-Ass iPhone Apple Event

Interesse nel vedere (più avanti, dal vivo) questo chiacchierato schermo con Retina 3x e dell’integrazione NFC con nuovi possibili sistemi di pagamento.

Ma soprattutto, voglia di capire cosa sveleranno di questo atteso orologio/wearable, ma soprattutto le feature su cui Apple ha deciso di puntare (focus su sensori che si interfacciano con HealthKit o replicazione – inutile – delle funzioni del telefono) o di come hanno risolto i problemi di questo genere di device (autonomia, scomodità, dimensioni, veloce effetto noia). Il tutto sperando che ci sia stato un grosso veto progettuale alle notifiche (vedasi quanto scritto e riportato da Filippo).
